वायुपरागित फूल बहुधा अत्यंत छोटे, मौलिक तथा अनाकर्षक होते हैं। इनमें भड़कीले रंग, गंध तथा मधु का अभाव रहता है। इनके पुष्पक्रम प्राय: शूकी, या मंजरी और परागकोश बड़े एवं मध्यडोली होते हैं तथा एक ही साथ पकते हैं।

पराग अधिक मात्रा में बनता है तथा हलका, शुष्क एवं चिकना होता है और वायु में सुगमता से फैल जाता है। वार्तिकाग्र बड़े, प्रशारिक्त एवं पिच्छाकार होते हैं, अतएव वायु में फैला पराग स्वत: आ फँसता है। बहुधा वायुपरागित वृक्षों में पतझड़ के पश्चात्‌ कोंपल आने के पूर्व ही फूल निकल आते हैं। अत: पत्तियों के अभाव में, परागण होने में कोई रुकावट नहीं पड़ती। वायुपरागित फूल ग्रामिनी (Graminae), अर्थात्‌ घास, बाँस, गन्ना, मक्का आदि एवं पामी (Palmae), अर्थात्‌ ताड़, खजूर, नारियल आदि, में होते हैं।
